Possible increase in customs duties on aluminum, photovoltaic modules and washing machines

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) initiated three tariff amendment applications. 

 

 
The first is in respect of aluminum plates, sheets, strips and foil products. The application is to increase the rate of duty from free to the maximum WTO bound rate being 15% ad valorem. 
 
The second investigation is in respect of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules or panels. The application is to increase the duty payable from free to 10% ad valorem.
 
The final investigation is in respect of fully automatic top loader washing machines, each of a dry linen capacity not exceeding 10kg. The application is to increase the rate of duty from free to 30% ad valorem.   
 
Interested parties have until 26 April 2019 to submit comments on the applications. A copy of the notice may be found here
